ScandiScan: AI Tool for Vintage and Antiques

At bustling flea markets or crowded auctions, every second counts. Manually searching for obscure marks, deciphering signatures, or scrolling through hundreds of old auction results for ceramics and glass takes too long – often allowing someone else to claim the find.

We grew tired of this manual bottleneck and developed our own solution. Now, we are making our internal tool available to the public: ScandiScan.

What is ScandiScan?

ScandiScan is an AI-driven progressive web app (PWA) for mobile devices, tailored for vintage hunters, collectors, and enthusiasts. Simply take a picture of an item, and the system analyzes its form, pattern, and marks in seconds.

  • Rapid Identification: Instantly receive details on manufacturer, era, condition, and visible markings.
  • Market Valuation & Range: Estimated market value with price ranges and confidence levels.
  • Multiple Photos for Enhanced Analysis: Capture up to 4 images per item (e.g., full view, base, mark, and detail) for maximum accuracy.
  • Shareable Valuation Cards: Generate and download ready-made valuation cards with images and analysis – perfect for sharing on social media or saving.
  • Personal Find Archive: All images you capture and analyze are automatically saved in your history. This is ideal for reviewing your daily finds, comparing prices later, or managing your collection.
  • Designed for On-Site Use: Functions as an app directly from your mobile home screen.

Why We Developed It

As professional “pickers,” we require real-time data to make quick purchasing decisions and secure our margins. ScandiScan is powered by an advanced visual AI model optimized for Nordic design, porcelain, glass, and antiques. The internal tool we use to scout the market and stock the shelves at Scandinavian Pickers is now available to everyone.
