Description

About the item: This substantial porcelain tureen, likely from the late 19th or early 20th century, is both a functional and decorative object. Its design with a lid and handles suggests its use for serving soups or stews. The item clearly bears the mark of its era with its ornamented design.

Details & Craftsmanship: The tureen is crafted from white porcelain and adorned with an extensive cobalt blue pattern featuring delicate dot details, accented by swirling gold-colored ornaments along the rim of both the tureen and the lid. The lid's finial and the tureen's handles also feature gold-colored accents. Inside the tureen, there is a central decoration in the form of a reddish-brown, stylized star-shaped flower.

Condition & Patina: The item exhibits a clear age-related patina. The entire tureen, including the lid and interior, is covered in crazing, which is particularly prominent on the lid's white surface. Small dark spots are visible within the crazing on the lid. The gold color shows some wear and fading in places, especially on edges and handles, which is expected for an item of this age. No visible cracks or chips beyond the crazing.
