Description
This enchanting decorative plate is a result of the prestigious collaboration between American designer John Derian, known for his decoupage art, and the Parisian ceramic workshop Astier de Villatte, famous for its handmade and unique ceramic objects with an antique feel. The plate is made of white-glazed ceramic with a characteristically uneven and rustic surface on the back, testifying to its artisanal origin. It features an elegant arched top with a practical hole for hanging, making it versatile as wall decor or as a charming ornament on a shelf or table.
The most striking element is the beautifully illustrated fly in the lower left corner, which gives the plate a unique and sophisticated character. The back is clearly marked with "JOHN DERIAN & ASTIER de VILLATTE", confirming its authenticity and value as a collector's item. The item is in fine vintage condition with the charm and patina expected of a handmade object of this age, including minor irregularities in the glaze and edges, which contribute to its unique expression.
